Disaster management platform from constellation technologies

+ about the project

Constellation Technologies’ (CT) MCT Platform engine has proven to be the perfect conduit for relaying to end-users, vital real-time data from Qteq’s Disaster Mitigation & Alert Smart Sentinel systems.

Especially during times of severe weather events, such as the major floods experienced in March 2021, Qteq’s Disaster Management systems, together with CT’s Disaster Management Platform (SaaS), have helped to keep local communities and people safe and significantly limit the number of fatalities.

+ Challenges

Australia’s coastal regions are highly vulnerable to extreme weather events, including tropical cyclones and major flooding. The March 2021 floods alone resulted in A$2.9 billion in damages, demonstrating the urgent need for:

  • Reliable real-time monitoring of rising water levels.
  • Automated flood warnings to reduce human risk and property damage.
  • Integration of smart sensor data with meteorological and hydrological data sources.
  • Scalable, cloud-based disaster response tools to enhance emergency management efforts.

+ Objectives
  • Live streaming situational awareness cameras installed across key flood-prone areas in New South Wales and Queensland.
  • Automated flood warning systems using IoT-connected sensor devices to monitor water levels.
  • Integration with Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) data, improving flood prediction accuracy.
  • Smart alerting systems, triggering real-time notifications and automated flood warning signs on affected roadways.

By integrating our Disaster Mitigation & Alert Smart Sentinel systems with Constellation Technologies’ MCT Platform, we’ve been able to deliver real-time, life-saving data when it matters most. This project showcases the power of sensor networks and intelligent automation in disaster mitigation and public safety
