In 2022 GEO PSI became aware that current Casing inspection technologies were unable to reliably identify the corrosion on the exterior of the casing in some Coal Seam Gas wells.
GEO PSI subsequently went on a global search for any company that had the technology to address this problem. As a result, GEO PSI identified Dexon, a pipeline inspection company that had high resolution tools that could identify corrosion in pipelines and worked with them to develop a wireline tool that could be deployed on Coal Seam Gas wells.
The challenge was to be able to successfully and reliable identify and measure both exterior and interior casing corrosion with a resolution of 4mm in both horizontal and vertical dimenions.
GEO PSI assisted in the development of the Q-Rode tool that could be deployed on wireline that had fast onsite evaluation capabilities.
